Tempranillo, Spain: Stuart Walton says Tempranillo is so widely grown in Spain it’s quality can be under-estimated. It can make wines with red cherry fruit for early drinking (‘joven’). With oak ageing and bottle age Tempranillo can show a ‘thrilling gamey complexity.
