Scharffenberger is a California winery which produces estate-bottled traditional method sparkling wines in Mendocino County’s cool, fog-shrouded Anderson Valley AVA. It was founded in 1981 by John Scharffenberger who grew up in Redwood Valley. He studied agro-geography in college and the knowledge of local soils and climate helped him identify Anderson Valley as a vineyard site. in 1989 Pommery bought a controlling interest.

Owner: The winery entered a new chapter as a member of the Roederer Collection in 2004.

Background:  Situated only miles from the coastal influences of the Pacific Ocean, Scharffenberger Cellars also enjoys the deep soils and sunshine with in the protected valley.
