Santa Giulia is an estate winery in Località Santa Giulia in Torrenieri in the north-east of the Montalcino region of Tuscany. The land was originally purchased in 1959 by Gino Terzuoli. It was later divided into two holdings, one for each son, Bruno and Lido. From his share Bruno created SassodiSole, and Lido created SantaGiulia. Santa Giulia is now run by Lido’s son, Gianluca Terzuoli.
Terroir: Get cold mornings here. Sangiovese can lack colour if picked too early. Must wait to pick to get stable colour.
Estate vineyards: 18ha of vines, of which 6ha are for Brunello. The oldest vines date to 1974. Newer clones were planted in 2000. 300 metres. Sandy clay soils.
