Russian River Valley AVA is an American Viticultural Area located south of Healdsburg in Sonoma County, within the wider North Coast AVA in California. It runs toward the Pacific and was enlarged in 2011, a move proposed by E&J Gallo winery (Oz Clarke: 2015, p.227).

Climate: Cool.
Wine styles: Noted for some of California’s best Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
Vintages: 2003 A wet year, high downy mildew (peronospera) pressure.
