Roederer Estate is a California winery founded in 1982 by Jean-Claude Rouzaud, then president of its parent company, Champagne Louis Roederer. It produces estate-bottled sparkling wines from Mendocino County’s cool, fog-shrouded Anderson Valley AVA. Roederer chose the western end of the Valley in as it was ‘in the direct path of chilly Pacific winds, which most closely matched conditions in Champagne. The first wine was a non-vintage Brut in 1998. The vice president for production and wine maker was Michel Salgues.
