Tenuta Poggio Il Castellare is an estate winery in Montalcino in Tuscany, Italy. It producesRosso di Montalcino DOC and Brunello di Montalcino DOCG and Sant’Antimo DOC.

Owner: Bruna Baroncini: Bruna Baroncini and her nephew Samuele, bought Poggio Il Castellare in Montalcino in 1998.

Estate vineyards: Poggio Il Castellare stands on the top of the hill, surrounded by a radial of vineyards, as they say in Montalcino. The vineyards embrace the group of farmhouses that include the cellars, the residences and the welcoming places for visitors. The estate has a total of forty hectares of land, seven of which are dedicated to vineyards, two to truffle grounds, a wood rich in medicinal herbs, and the remaining part to arable land. 6.5ha of vines. There are around 5ha of Sangiovese at Pian Bossolino (see the Pian dell’Orino estate for details of the Pian Bossolino area). There is another 1ha of Sangiovese near the winery and the abbey of Sant’Antimo in an area called Colline dei Vigneti, at the foot of Monte Castellare. There is also 0.5ha of Bordeaux grapes for the Cervio Rosso (see below for more detail).
