Podere Lecci e Brocchi is an organic estate vineyard and winery in Località Villa a Sesta in the commune of Castelnuovo Berardenga in the Chianti Classico DOCG region of Tuscany. It was bought by Vasco ‘Chiorba’ Lastrucci in 1970 from the parish priest of Villa A Sesta. The name refers to ‘lessci’ or holm oaks and ‘brocchi’, the stumps of wood left after cutting. The main crop cultivated then was wheat, but Vasco Lastrucci felt the stony, red soil rich in minerals would suit grapevines, so he began planting. Until 2010 the wines were sold in bulk. In 211 Vasco’s daughter Sabrina took over and with her husband Giancarlo began estate bottling, the first release being a 2010 Chianti Classico DOCG in 2012.

Pink wines
Meticcio: White wine made from red grapes, excluding Sangiovese. From the oldest vines, selected from native vines. Sabrina says the project was ‘inspired by my two great passions, wine and animals. The law of “non-purity” is what the wine represents, being a mix of Alicante, Canaiolo, Prugnolo, Ciliegiolo, Colorino and others. This ‘same non-purity in animals, in the case of dogs, is often the cause of abandonment. To them this wine is dedicated, represented on the label by our mongrel dog Tiberius,’ says Sabrina, adding that she money from each bottle sold will go to a pet charity. ‘The aim of this project is to find followers throughout Italy and with the 2016 vintage came the first, Tenci Zicari in Puglia who began making Meticcio. The label showed a portrait of Zaza. | 2015 Debut.
