Pancho Campo MW is a freelance lecturer and president and founder of The Wine Academy of Spain. He is also a Member of the Institute of Masters of Wine.

Following a successful career as a tennis professional including playing in the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona he became president and CEO of CSM event management company with whom he organised and managed Davis Cup, the World Cup of Indoor Trials, the Pro Beach Soccer World Tour and events with Andre Agassi, Stefan Edberg, Emilio and Arantxa Sanchez Vicario, Eric Cantona, Pink Floyd, Sting, Enrique Iglesias, Tom Jones and Jamiroquai amongst others.

Pancho founded the Wine Academy of Spain in 2003. He is particularly interested by the effect of climate change on wine and has organised and is organising a number
of conferences on this theme. He is writing a book on the impact of climate change on the wine industry.

In addition to his work at the Wine Academy, he is an occasional contributor to www.verema.com, Essential Magazine (Spain), Wine Styles (Brazil) and Vendimia (Chile). He has also appeared on National Geographics, BBC and Spanish television. In addition to climate change Pancho’s particular interests are Spanish table wines and Sherry.

Pancho became an MW in 2008 and won the Villa Maria Award of the best viticulture paper. His other awards are being 2008 Member of Merit for the Cava Guild (Cofradía del Cava), 2008 Sommelier of the Year (the Andalucian Sommelier Association), Wine Personality of the Year (the Association of Sommeliers of Malaga).

In addition to his native Spanish, Pancho speaks English and French.
