Musico is an estate winery in Località Casella in Montalcino in Tuscany, Italy. Its main wines are Rosso di Montalcino DOC and Brunello di Montalcino DOCG.
Owner: Guido Martini–a local. The Martini family has deep roots in the city of Montalcino and elsewhere. One example is Mastro Giovanni Martini, who at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries even recruited 300 people to harvest wheat in the Maremma plains, doing the work entirely by hand. Renato Martini, another family member from Arezzo was employed for his skill for pruning olive trees, vines and orchards. In 1980 entrepreneur Giovanni Martini bought land in Montalcino and planted vines and became a wine producer. He was succeeded by his son Guido Martini. Guido owns the ‘Les Barriques’ wine shop in Montalcino.
Consultant: Gabriele Gautz (who works with Mauricio Castelli).
Vineyards: 1.5ha on galestro at Loc. Casella, near L’Osservanza. The vines are rented Guido Martini told me (Anteprima 2015), as in 2005 he sold the family vines to Le Ragnaie.
