Moscato di Scanzo DOCG is the smallest Italian appellation. It is a sweet passito red wine made from air-dried Moscato di Scanzo grapes (the only black-berried Moscato in Italy) grown in the town of Scanzorosciate in the hills east of Bergamo in the Lombardia (Lombardy) region of northwest Italy. The wine ages two years before sale. Scanzo is the name of one of the ‘frazioni’ in Scanzorosciate (the other being Rosciate).
