Montisi is a village in the province of Siena in Tuscany which is renowned for its olive oil. Montisi is considered a frazione of San Giovanni d’Asso. In 2017 San Giovanni d’Asso (including Montisi) voted to become part of the commune of Montalcino after local government efficiency reforms. The vote did not allow the San Giovanni d’Asso and Montisi vineyards to qualify for any of Montalcino’s wine denominations (Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, Rosso di Montalcino DOC, Sant’Antimo DOC, Moscadello di Montalcino DOC). They continue to qualify for the Orcia DOC however.

Contradas: There are four contradas in Montisi called San Martino, Piazza, Castello and Torre.
