Montefalco, 2017 vintage: See Montefalco DOC. | Montefalco region of Umbria.
2017: Growing season One of the hottest, driest vintages in the last 30 years. Normal budburst. Late April frost (19th, 20th & 21st) led to significant production losses, with the lower lying vineyards hardest hit. New secondary shoots formed, the weakest of which had to be removed to concentrate resources in those that were retained. Some rain fell in spring. Dry, hot weather followed causing a drought. Some much needed rain fell before what was an early harvest.
Wine style: The wines are characterised by high levels of alcohol, and low acidities.
Production 1,984,112 bottles.
