Montefalco, 2011 vintage:  See Montefalco DOC. Montefalco region of Umbria.

2011 Rating ***** (five). Growing season Notably warm, wet winter. Cool, wet spring, correct spring rainfal. Average spring rainfall. Budding upto 2 weeks later than normal. Warm, dry growing season with above average temperatures from summer to mid-Oct. No hydric stress. Cool summer cool into mid-August. ‘Wet July but very hot summer with some drought,’ (Stephen Brook, 2016). Slightly earlier than usual harvest. The hot and dry climate with above average temperatures during the summer until mid-October allowed a very good ripening of the grapes, correct at the polyphenolic level, slightly earlier.  Good yields and quality. Others reported delayed ripening. Better conditions from mid-October helped re-dress the ripening delays. Wine style Slow ferments due to high sugars. Structured wines for ageing. The harvest is good in terms of quantity. Excellent quality of the grapes. ‘Rounded wines, high quality,’ (Stephen Brook, 2016).
