Montefalco, 2010 vintage: See Montefalco DOC. | Montefalco region of Umbria.

2010 Rating **** (four). Growing season Cold, wet winter. Late budburst (by 10-15 days) and flowering. Cool summer until mid-August. Warmer temperatures until mid-October allowed the vines to catch up (almost). Cool summer until mid-August. Then a ‘very hot summer but regular rain = no stress. Cooler and later than 2011,’ (Stephen Brook, 2016).

Winemaking: Regular fermentations.

Wine quality:  Overall good year, very good for the white grapes and for the better exposed Sangiovese and Sagrantino vineyards. Lower than average alcohol. Vines on warmer sites fared best. ‘Very good quality,’ (Stephen Brook, 2016).
