2009: Rating **** (four). Growing season Winter was both warm and dry, and cold and wet. Normal spring. Slow start to vegetative growth, contrary to recent precocious seasons. Hot May, vines caught up. Cool and rainy early summer. Thereafter the season was hot and dry until October. Optimal ripening of the grapes. ‘Some rain in early summer, then very hot,’ (Stephen Brook, 2016). Good maturation. Early harvest. Winemaking: regular fermentations. Normal alcohol levels. Overall very good vintage. Wine quality ‘Full ripeness in a slightly lighter style than usual,’ (Stephen Brook, 2016).
