Montalcino Bio is an official body created in 2015 in Montalcino to promote and assist the development of organics in Montalcino. It thus covers agricultural production such as farming and wine growing as well as tourism and other activities in the Municipality of Montalcino. The aim is to make Montalcino a Bio Distretto or ‘Natural District’ whereby farmers, breeders, citizens, tour operators, associations and public administrations agree to manage, local resources in a sustainable way, based on organic practices both in production and consumption, and to create positive outcomes via organics that aid the development of the economic, social and cultural potential of the region.
