Mezzolombardo is a commune in Trentino (Trento) province in the Trentino-Alto Adige region of northern Italy, located about 9 miles (15 kms) north of the city of Trento and on the old border between the Trentino and Tyrol which explains is name, ‘lombardo’ signifying ‘Italian’. It is the most important village in the Campo Rotaliano.
Geography: Mezzolombardo borders the following municipalities: Ton, Mezzocorona, Spormaggiore, San Michele all’Adige, Fai della Paganella, Nave San Rocco, and Zambana.
History: In Roman times Mezzolombardo was already known for its Teroldego.
Population: As of 31 December 2006, it had a population of 6,498. The locals are called Mezzolombardesi or Rotaliani.
