Martignano (Trento) | Medium-sized village (‘frazione’) within and 2.5 miles (3-4km) north-north east of the larger municipal area of Trento itself. Martignano is located on the eastern hills, on the slopes of Mount Calisio.Together with Cognola, Moià, Montevaccino, San Donà di Cognola, San Vito di Cognola, Tavernaro and Villamontagna, it forms the administrative district number 6 of Argentario di Trento. In the last twenty years, the hamlet has experienced a strong demographic increase, due to its proximity to the city, in addition to the town planning regulations (General Town Plan of the Municipality of Trento) which have allowed its substantial building development.
