The Maipo Valley is among the best known wine-producing region in Chile. It is located in the north of the Central Valley and is best known for red wines, with Cabernet Sauvignon the flagship, along with Merlot, Syrah, and Carménère.
Geography: The Maipo Valley features easterly vineyards located in the foothills of the Andes and westerly vineyards that reach the sandy soils of the Coastal Mountains.
Terroir: Mild Mediterranean climate. Dry, warm summers. Cold, wet winters.
