Lucignano d’Asso is a village in the province of Siena in Tuscany, considered a locality with San Giovanni d’Asso. In 2017 San Giovanni d’Asso voted to become part of the commune of Montalcino after local government efficiency reforms. The vote did not allow the vineyards of either San Giovanni d’Asso or Lucignano d’Asso to qualify for any of Montalcino’s wine denominations (Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, Rosso di Montalcino DOC or Sant’Antimo DOC). They do qualify for the Orcia DOC however.
