La Regola is located in Località San Martino in Riparbella, a town in Pisa province on the Tuscan coast. Wines are made under the Montescudaio DOC.

White wines

Montescudaio DOC Bianco, Lauro: 2003 Viognier, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc. 1,500 bottles.

Montescudaio DOC Bianco, Steccaia: 2002 None made. | 2003 Trebbiano Toscano, Vermentino, Sauvignon Blanc. 6,000 bottles. 

Red wines

Montescudaio DOC Rosso, Beloro: 2001 Sangiovese (18 year old vines). Cordon at 4,500 vines/ha. Use a yeast from Montalcino. Wild and smoky oak, hot finish and a bit bitter (Bolgheri wine route office, 22 Feb 2005). 

Montescudaio DOC Rosso, Vallino delle Conche: 2002 Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon. 8,000 bottles.12 months in barrel. Clear and exotic nose; black and red fruit; ripe but not too pruney; again easy and soft with some smoke too; light in the middle but well honed at the finish; smoky but decent (Bolgheri wine route office, 22 Feb 2005). 

Montescudaio DOC Rosso, Ligustro: 2003 90% Sangiovese, 10% Colorino. 10,000 bottles. Stainless steel only. Soft, light, easy plum/red fruit, not too much wood or no wood at all, elegant and simple, appealing (Bolgheri wine route office, 22 Feb 2005).

Montescudaio DOC Rosso, La Regola Cru Montescudaio: 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot. Minty again, more obvious depth and ripeness than with 2002, good black fruit style, very international and not at all Tuscan but it is ripe and the fruit is well handled as the wine has no real intrinsic depth I think (Bolgheri wine route office, 22 Feb 2005). | 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot. 7,000 bottles. 18 months in new oak. Minty nose, plenty of Cabernet Sauvignon tannin on the mid palate which is firm; tannin perhaps a little dry from the wood but well made again and a clear style. Integrated alcohol (Bolgheri wine route office, 22 Feb 2005). 

Sweet wines

Toscana Bianco IGT, Sondrete Dolce: 1999 Trebbiano, Malvasia, Colombana. A passito in a vin santo style. 36-48 months in barrel. 500 bottles. A bit medicinal and hot; and very sweet and the wood is not very clean (Bolgheri wine route office, 22 Feb 2005).
