La Palazzetta is an organic estate winery in Loc. La Palazzetta in the Montalcino region in Tuscany, Italy. Its main wines, both reds, are Rosso di Montalcino DOC and Brunello di Montalcino DOCG. It also produces wine under the Sant’Antimo DOC.
Owner: Flavio Fanti (born 1954). Flavio’s daughter Tea is an agronomist, and his son Lucas studied to be a sommelier.
Vineyards: 30-35ha of land in total. 18 hectares of vineyards on the south-eastern edge of Montalcino in Castelnuovo dell’Abate. The vines are located around the Sant’Antimo Abbey on soil described by the estate as medium-textured, mainly galestro, and stony.
Organic certification: 2015 Conversion began. | 2018 First vintage with full organic certification.
Winemaking: Flavio Fanti uses large Slovenian and French oak for his Brunello, and various sizes of barrique for his Rosso.

Rosso di Montalcino DOC: 2011 At the consorzio with Ian d’Agata Tuesday 28th May 2013: Light-medium crimson core. Limpid rim. Stinky nose. Second bottle TCA. | 2013 20,000 bottles. Quite tight tannin (Anteprima 2015). | 2014 Bit hot, simple cherry fruit (Anteprima 2016). | 2018 20,000 bottles.
Brunello di Montalcino DOCG: 2000 Ripe red fruit aromas, but light palate and some fizz (Anteprima 2005). | 2010 25,000 bottles. Fluid style with blood orange notes, warm but not hot, savoury, quite open, no great weight, some sherry notes (Anteprima 2015). | 2011 Bit thin (Anteprima 2016). | 2015 25,000 bottles.
Sant’Antimo Rosso DOC: 2013 5,000 bottles.
