La Ciotat is a town on in the Provence region on the Mediterranean coast of France, in the Bouches-du-Rhône department. The Economist (27th June 2020, p.19) describes its harbour as being used by local fishermen since the 15th-century but its 300-berth dry dock is now used by one in seven of the world’s super yachts over 50 metres long (164 feet equivalent to the height of the Arc de Triomphe) annually for repairs and refits. The Old Port area hosts cafes and bars. Just north is the Eden Theater, the world’s oldest operating cinema.
