The International Organic Accreditation Service is an independent, non-profit organisation that works with the organic sector to ensure trust in products labelled as organic. It was incorporated in 1997 in the USA by the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM), a membership organisation established to provide a network for the promotion of organic agriculture. The IOAS provides accreditation and assessment services together with generic training in the field of conformity assessment in organic agriculture for certification bodies, regulatory authorities, National Accreditation Bodies and other interested parties.
