Il Conventino is an organic estate winery in the Montepulciano region of Tuscany. It makes Rosso di Montepulciano DOC and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOC red wines.
Owner: Dott. Alberto Brini (335.5862617), son of Pino. The Brini family comprises three brothers: Pino, Duccio and Alessandro. Pino’s son, Alberto (met him at Anteprima 2017), became general manager even though he was less than 30 years old and gave up a promising career as a lawyer to do so.
Background: Two stories actually intertwine in the history of the company – that of La Casella, the name with which the dream of creating a product of great tradition was born and that of Il Conventino, whose name derives from the small convent of 1300 that Rolf and Ursula Dürrschmidt bought and renovated in the 1980s, located a few hundred metres from the historic Casella cellar. Ursula Dürrschmidt Muller sold Il Conventino in spring 2003 to the Brini family–Pino, Duccio and Alessandro–all lawyers), who also purchased another Montepulciano estate at the same time, Ursula’s husband Alfio Carpini’s estate, La Casella (the couple then bought Nuova Pianella, an estate in Grosseto, to grow cereals and olive oil. It also meant Alfio could pursue his pass-time of hunting wild boar).
