Azienda Agricola Il Borghese is a winery in San Casciano Val di Pesa near Florence in the Chianti Classico DOCG region of Tuscany.

Staff: The vineyard and the winery are managed by oenologist Tim Manning, aided and abetted by Giacomo Innocenti and Claudio Bencivenni. All the daily operations are keenly overseen by estate manager, Antonio Cavallini.
Vineyards: 30ha estate. Near Florence. Il Borghettto’s vineyards lie within the boundaries of the modern-day Chianti Classico area of production. The grape varieties planted on the six or so hectares of vineyards are for the most part Sangiovese, with a small percentage of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Montigiano: 100% Sangiovese. 12 months ageing in cement vats and oak. 3 months bottle ageing prior to release. Around 13,000 bottles. Montigiano is a new departure for Borghetto, being their first wine made from non-estate grapes. Montigiano is a fresh, youthful expression of pure Sangiovese.
Collina 21: A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sangiovese. Upto 18 months ageing in oak. At least 6 months bottle age prior to release. Around 7000 bottles made.
Bilaccio: 100% Sangiovese from the estate. 16 to 20 months oak ageing. At least 6 months bottle ageing prior to release. Rosie: 40% Cabernet Sauvignon; 40% Merlot; 20% Sangiovese. 20 to 24 months ageing in oak. Up to 12 months bottle ageing prior to release. 1400 bottles made. Rosie is a riserve wine, similar in concept to Clante, created from the best Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot and a single, Clante-selected barrel of Sangiovese.
Chianti Classico DOCG, Monte de Sassi: 80% Sangiovese; 20% blended with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cannaiolo. Around 18 months ageing in oak. At least 6 months bottle age prior to release. Around 3500 bottles made.

Clante: The estate’s flagship wine, a barrel selection of a barrel selection of Borghetto’s best Sangiovese. Clante is the name the Etruscans gave to the hills now called Chianti Classico. 100% Sangiovese. 20 to 24 months oak ageing. Up to 12 months bottle ageing prior to release. 1900 bottles made.
Other activities Woodland, fruit trees, veg garden. The twelve hectares of olive groves are cultivated with a number of different species of Tuscan olive trees including Morellino, Frantoiano, Pendolino and Leccino. The production of extra virgin olive oil amounts to about 2.000 litres per year.
