Grignan-les-Adhémar AOC, new name from the 2010 vintage for the Coteaux du Tricastin AOC (which see for why) in France’s southern Rhône. Still wines of all three colours are made from 21 communes on the left bank of the Rhône.
Communes (22): The wines must be grown and made in the following communes in the Drôme département: Allan, La Baume-de-Transit, Chamaret, Chantemerle-lès-Grignan, Châteauneuf-du-Rhône, Clansayes, Colonselle, Donzère, Grignan, La Garde-Adhémar, Les Granges-Gontardes, Malataverne, Montségur-sur-Lauzon, Réauville, La Roche-Saint-Secret-Béconne, Roussas, Salles-sous-Bois, Saint-Paul-Trois-Châteaux, Saint-Restitut, Solérieux, Valaurie.
Terroir: Stony alluvial soils on low lying ground, sandy soils on the foothills. Climatically the area is at the limit of Mediterranean influences.
Vineyard area & wine production: 2002 2,000ha produced 115,434hl as Coteaux du Tricastin (Guide Hachette des Vins 2004, p.1065).
