Giacomo Marengo founded this estate in Monte San Savino, Tuscany. It was organic. His family also owns vineyards in Piemonte. This estate produced Chianti DOCG red wine but was sold due to financial problems.

IGT Toscana Bianco, Cuvee Sant’Anna: From a high altitude vineyard. 2002 70% Chardonnay, 30% Sauvignon Blanc. Varieties fermented apart. Part BF, batonnage, clean, crisp, fresh, slight cheese (Visit 11th March 2005).

Chianti DOCG, Le Tornaie: Le Tornaie is located near an old Etruscan furnace. Guyot pruned. 3.00 metres x 1.00 metres. South-south-east. | 1998 80% Sangiovese, 20% Canaiolo. Slaavonian oak casks for 12 months. 2002 80% Sangiovese, 20% Canaiolo.
Chianti DOCG, Tenuta del Fondatore La Commenda: From a vineyard around an old farmhouse where a “Commenda” and a “Hospitale” stood in the middle ages, probably built by the Knights Templar. | 1996 Labelled as a Chianti Riserva. 90% Sangiovese, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. | 1998 Labelled as a Chianti Riserva. Nice claret style and soft easy, well made (Visit 11th March 2005). | 1999 90% Sangiovese, 10% CS. Labelled as a Chianti Riserva. The yield was reduced by the frost. Cabernet Sauvignon ages 20 months in French barrels, with the Sangiovese in medium sized Slavonian oak.
Chianti DOCG, Castello di Rapale: The vineyards lie around the medieval castle of Rapale which dominates the Ambra river valley. South facing. 400-450 metres. Matured in Slavonian oak botti. | 2000 90% Sangiovese, 10% Canaiolo.
Chianti DOCG Riserva, Castello di Rapale:
IGT Toscana Rosso, Elena: The label is painted with wine by an artist. Bio. 2001 80% Merlot, 20% Sangiovese. Hand picked. MLF in French barrels. Quite firm even for a Tuscan Merlot, good varietal character (Visit 11th March 2005).
IGT Toscana Rosso, Tenuta del Fondatore Stroncoli: Vineyards lie around a former Etruscan villa. On Sienese clay, so quite powerful. | 1997 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Sangiovese. | 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon MLF in French barrels.
