FIBL, or the Forschungsinstitut für biologischen Landbau (FiBL; or Research Institute of Organic Agriculture) is the research institute for organic farming in Switzerland.

In 1974, two representatives of both organic and Biodynamic cultivation methods founded the research institute for organic farming or FiBL whose role was to attempt to back up scientifically the observations of the pioneers of organic farming. Despite this, a Swiss government food commission wanted to ban the labelling of products as organic in 1975 (Source: Bio-Fach Messejournal 2000, p.16).

In 1976 FiBL organised the first international conference on organic farming, the IFOAM International Scientific Conference held in Switzerland.
