Domaine Valambelle is an organic estate in the Faugères AOC region of France.
Owner: GAEC Domaine de Valinière. Marie-Louise Abbal.
Vineyards: 23ha in Faugères. Schist. Syrah (7.75ha plus 1ha planted in 2011), Carignan (3.15ha), Mourvèdre (2.3ha), Grenache Noir (5.4ha), Cinsault (2ha), Rousane (1ha), Grenache Blanc (1ha). At Millésime Bio in 2015 I liked the wines which had an old vines, low yield feel.
Organic certification: 2010 First vintage with full organic certification.
White wines
Faugères AOC Blanc, L’Angolet Blanc: Grenache Blanc and Roussane.
Faugères AOC Rosé, L’Angolet Rosé: Grenache, Cinsault and Carignan.
Faugères AOC Rouge, Millepeyres: Mainly Grenache and Carignan. To be drunk young. | 2013 26,000 bottles. Very well made, very nice texture (Millésime Bio 2015).
Faugères AOC Rouge, L’Angolet: 2013 Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Carignan. 6,000 bottles. Lovely crisp red fruit (Millésime Bio 2015).
Faugères AOC Rouge, Florentin Abbal: 60% Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Carignan.
Faugères AOC Rouge, Domaine Valambelle Grande Cuvée: 2011 80% Syrah, 20% Mourvèdre. 12 months in oak. 5,000 bottles. Bit too much oak but the fruit is very good (Millésime Bio 2015).
Sweet wines
Blanc, Mi-Novembre: Late picked sweet white from Grenache Blanc and Roussanne.
