Domaine du Météore is an organic estate in Cabrerolles in the Hérault department of France. It produces wine under the Faugères AOC and Saint Chinian AOC. 2008 was the first estate grown-and-made harvest, the owners having left the St-Chinian co-op in 2007.

Owner: Genévieve and Guy Libes (EARL Coste Libes).

Vineyards: 23ha of Faugères and 4ha of Saint-Chinian–rare for a winery to have both these ACs. The Faugères comes from Genévieve’s side (she = 5th generation). The St-Chinian vineyard is located a crater (220 metres in diameter and 60m deep) formed by a meteor. 

Organic certification: 2013 First vintage with full organic certification.

Wines

Faugères Blanc AOC: 2014 40% each Roussanne and Marsanne, 20% Vermentino. Yeasted. Cool ferment. Steel No MLF. Crisp, quite citric (Millésime Bio 2016).

Faugères Rouge AOC, Léonides: 2014 Syrah, Mourvèdre, Carignan (Blanc) and Grenache. Vat only, no wood.

Saint Chinian AOC: Not tasted.
