Crémant de Die AOC is a traditional method dry sparkling white wine from the Northern Rhône. It comes from 31 communes (listed below) in the Drôme department and around the town of Die (the Diois region) in the Drôme valley (Drôme department) of southeastern France (Rhône Valley), the same production zone as Clairette de Die AOC. The Crémant de Die AOC dates from 1993 when it replaced the Clairette de Die Mousseux category (whose final vintage was 1999). The wine was originally made from 100% Clairette. Now up to 45% Aligoté and Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains grapes can be added. See also Clairette de Die Méthode Dioise Ancestrale AOC, another sparkling wine from the same region but in its case it resulting from a single fermentation only (‘méthode ancestrale’) and made from 100% Clairette alone.
