Colli Albani DOC is located in the Lazio region of central west Italy. David Gleave MW says historically the region’s white wines were ‘rather generously described as ‘golden’, meaning they were oxidised. Ezio Rivella brought the white wine revolution to the Colli Albani in the early 1960s, and ‘these plodding, lumpen examples were suddenly transformed into light, svelte and modern wines [but also as] wines of little substance.”
