Clos Figueras is an estate winery in Gratallops in the Priorat region of Spain. Bordeaux wine merchant Christoper Cannan bought the vineyards estate in October 1997 from an elderly widow, having discovered the region by trading the wines of some of Priorat’s initial pioneers. The vineyards had been abandoned for 8 years and most of the land–apart from a grove of centuries old olive trees, and a few rows of 1970s Carignan Noir–had to be replanted. Budwood for replanting came from a nursery in the Rhone. Cannan released his first wine in 2000. The name Figueras was derived from two fig trees on the estate and Clos because the vineyard was in a single spot.

Vineyards: 10 hectares (24.7 acres) of vines in a single spot. Mainly Grenache Noir, plus Syrah, Mourvedre and a little Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Viognier.
