Chavignol is a commune in the Sancerre AOC region of the Loire Valley. It is noted for both its Crottin de Chavignol–the most renowned goat cheese in the Loire–and its Sancerre wine which Henri IV (King of France 1589–1610) declared the best he had drunk. He planted an elm tree here, too.
