Château Prieuré-Lichine is an estate in the commune of Margaux on the Bordeaux region’s left bank. Red wines are made under the Margaux AOC. The ‘prieuré’ or priory was a former Benedictine monastery whose monks would make wine. In 1951 Alexis Lichine bought the estate, and then ‘assembled a wide scattering of little plots [new plantings and purchases] around Margaux in the 1950s,’ (Hugh Johnson (Wine Companion: 1991, p.55)
Classification: 1855 Classification 4th Growth.
