Chateau Montelena is one of Napa Valley AVA’s best known wineries. In 2008 a sale agreement with French businessman Michel Reybier of Cos d’Estournel was cancelled because the potential buyer was unable to meet terms of the deal under the contract it signed with Chateau Montelena’s owners, the Barrett family.
