Champagne, Lieux-dits In a (private communication in 2002 Tom Stevenson told me ‘there are 260,000 parcels or lieux-dits within the Champagne AOC. That seems very high when there are 318 villages and I look at a map and cannot find 80 lieux-dits in most villages, let alone 800+. I suspect that this figure must derive from dividing lieux-dits into smaller parcels by ownership, but you would have to check with the CIVC on that.’
