Caudrot (Post code: F-33490) is a commune on the right bank of the Bordeaux region, one of 10 communes entitled to the Côtes de Bordeaux-Saint-Macaire AOC for its semi-sweet or sweet (‘liquoreux’) still white wines. Caudrot takes its name from the River Dropt (pronounced ‘drow’) which meanders to a conclusion into the Garonne here; thus Caudrot is the ‘queue du Dropt’ (tail end of the Dropt). The Langon-La Réole road (the RN 113) passes through the heart of Caudrot, making it something of a noisy thoroughfare.
