Bourgogne Aligoté AOC is a white wine produced from the Aligoté grape variety in the Burgundy region of France. The AOC dates from 1937. Its nick-name is ‘the Muscadet of Burgundy’ although it is often drunk as a kir (blended with a sweet black-currant liqueur). Aligoté from Pernand-Vergelesses was historically renowned for its suppleness until it was supplanted by Chardonnay (Guide Hachette des Vins 2004, p.428).
