Bordeaux, 1996 Vintage: See Bordeaux region.

Steven Spurrier (September 2008) says 1996 ‘was a great vintage for the Left Bank, a classic year due to an exceptionally sunny October which helped ripen the Cabernet’s tannins.’ Merlot on the right bank was ‘ripe but tight, with an atypical leanness avoided only by the better estates.’
