The Bergerac region is located east of Bordeaux in South West France and is bisected by the Dordogne river which flows from the upland of the Périgord (Hugh Johnson & Hubrecht Duijker: 1987, p.18). Bergerac produces wines of all three colours from across 90 communes in the Dordogne region of South West France and centred on the town of Bergerac.
