Azienda Agricola Molinari Carlo di Marisa Colombeo is an estate winery in Montalcino in Tuscany, Italy. Its main wines are Rosso di Montalcino DOC, Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, and Sant’Antimo DOC. It was founded in 1980 by Carlo Molinari and Marisa Colombo.
Owner: Marisa Colombo. She took over after her husband Carlo Molinari died of cancer.
Terroir: The landholding is called Podere Le Fonti. This is located halfway up the the granite massif on which the town of Montalcino stands, on the steep slope overlooking the Asso valley. It is the historical area of Brunello, where rocky soils mix with the loose ones of the hills, once a bed of vast prehistoric rivers. The company is located in a panoramic position on the north-east side of the Brunello di Montalcino pyramid, with an extensive view of the Val d’Arbia and the Crete Senesi. The vineyards are located on a vast natural east-facing terrace protected against the sirocco by the town of Montalcino itself. There are large terraces dense with olive trees, chestnut trees and various Mediterranean species and regulated by centuries-old oaks. The vines are exposed to the sun and winds coming from the Tyrrhenian sea and from the mountain.
Vineyards: 1ha planted in 1980 and 1989. East-facing. Terraced. Some esca. Oak and chestnut trees.
Winery: Small enamel tanks plus oak botti.
