Alto Adige DOC Moscato Giallo, white wine from Alto Adige in northern Italy (see Alto Adige DOC) made from a minimum 85% Moscato Giallo. It can be dry or made as a ‘passito’ or ‘vendemmia tardiva’ or ‘riserva’. Moscato Giallo was first mentioned in Alto Adige in the 19th century. It is primarily grown in Oltradige and Bassa Atesina in warm locations up to an average elevation of 500 metres (1,600 feet) above sea level. The Moscato Giallo is typically labelled Goldenmuskateller. This should not be confused with the Gelber Muskateller of Germany and Austria which is in fact Moscato Bianco.
