Alto Adige DOC Gewurztraminer is a white wine from Alto Adige (Südtirol) in northern Italy (see Alto Adige DOC). It is made with a minimum 85% Gewurztraminer. Gewurztraminer’s name likely originates from the Alto Adige winegrowing village of Tramin. “Traminer” was a German-language term used as early as the thirteenth century. The vineyards for it are primarily found in Bassa Atesina, Oltradige and Adige Valley on warm terraced slopes up to 600 meters (2,000 feet) above sea level, on loamy soils rich in lime.
Vineyard Area: 2018 574ha.
