Wiener Gemischter Satz DAC (or Districtus Austriae Controllatus) is a Viennese classic that has undergone a comeback, which Fritz Wieninger of Weingut Wieninger initiated substantially. It is made of different grape varieties growing mixed together in the vineyard, then harvested and fermented together. The highly ripe varieties complement the freshness and vibrance of the later ripening ones. The Wiener Gemischter Satz DAC must not be confused with a wine made from different grape varieties bottled together but fermented apart.
