TRACOLLE is a winery in the township (‘comune’) of Tavarnelle Val di Pesa in the Chianti Classico DOCG of Tuscany, Italy.

OWNER | The domaine belonged to the Abbey (‘badia’) of Passignano. In 1985 the Broggi family (Anita Broggi) bought it. They put the estate up for sale in Easter 2005.

STAFF | Manager: Ernst Thomann (Born in South Africa, speaks English, Swiss citizen, married an Italian).

VINEYARDS | 2.6ha of Sangiovese Toscano, Malvasia, Trebbiano at 2,750 vines/ha and trained 1.7m high. Vines planted in 1971 and 1983 at 350-500m on two sites.

CERTIFICATION1988 First vintage with full organic certification.

RED WINES

CHIANTI CLASSICO DOCG, TRACOLLE1997 Thick, ripe style of fruit. | 1998 Drought-affected vintage.

From 7.4ha of olives (affected by frost in December 1996).
