Tony Aspler is a wine writer based in Canada to where he was evacuated from his native United Kingdom during the Second World War. He began writing about wine in 1975. He was a columnist for the Toronto Star for over two decades. He has written murder mystery novels (eg. ‘Death on the Douro’) as well as wine guides. In 2001 he co-founded the Grapes for Humanity charity to support children with disabilities and landmine victims. He was given the Order of Canada in 2007.
