Toni Paterson MW became the second Australian woman to become a member of the Masters of Wine in 2003, following Meg Brodtmann who passed in November 2002. Paterson is a former Southcorp winemaker. She studied bio-technology at Sydney’s University of technology and took a Masters in oenology at the University of Adelaide. She then spent 3 years with Southcorp as winemaker for the Penfolds, Lindemans, and Seppelt brands in the Barossa Valley, Great Western, Sunraysia, and Riverland. She passed both the theory and practical exams at her first attempt. Her MW dissertation was on Australian Chardonnay.
