Red wines France, Roussillon

Côtes Catalanes Rouge, NV 13.5% The Society’s French Full Red. Screwcap. Back label says a blend of Carignan (Noir and Grenache (Noir) made by the Vignerons d’Agly (‘a small, independent co-operative’) and blended by the Wine Society. Took a day to open but was smooth, rich and not top heavy with simple Grenache softness and an agreeable Carignan Noir edge. Enjoyably wild fruit. No idea of its age, guess 5-7 years old (a neglected bottle in Nick Nicholas’s cellar with a slightly mouldy label) when tasted in at Nick Nicholas’s in Combe Down on Friday 03rd August 2018. See Côtes Catalanes.
